Kelsey Huus

Kelsey is a PhD student and Vanier scholar hailing from Ottawa, Canada. She studies microbiota-host interactions in the context of malnutrition and poor sanitation. In particular, she is interested in the mechanisms of environmental enteropathy, a chronic inflammatory disease of the small intestine which is common in developing regions of the world, and which contributes to malnutrition by interfering with the absorption of nutrients.

Interesting facts: When she isn’t studying microscopic life, Kelsey enjoys books, music, and theatre.
